
Wranglers Edge Aces, 4-3

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (1-2-0, 2 Points) defeated the Alaska Aces (4-1-0, 8 Points) 4-3 in front of 3,372 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night. Forward Adam Miller notched a goal and two assists and winger Andrew Orpik tallied a goal and an assist for the Wranglers in their first win on the season. Wranglers defenseman Jason Krischuk and center Josh Prudden also scored for Las Vegas. Las Vegas goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 26 of 29 shots to improve to 1-1-0 on the year. Alaska forwards Scott Burt, Colin Hemingway, and John Lammers all scored for the Aces, who dropped their first game of the season. Aces goalie Sebastian Dahm made 26 saves to move to 3-1-0 this year. The Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces tomorrow night, October 24th, at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
Alaska opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal from Captain Scott Burt at 8:44 of the first period. Burt broke in alone while shorthanded and buried his own rebound past Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas for the1-0 Aces lead. Las Vegas answered on the power-play with a goal from forward Adam Miller. Las Vegas defenseman Craig Switzer set up Miller's first goal on the season at 10:04 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1. The Aces took their second lead of the game with a power-play goal from forward Colin Hemingway at 16:02 of the opening frame. Forward John Lammers and defenseman Nick Tuzzolino set up Hemingway's third goal on the season to take the 2-1 lead. Just 38-seconds later, Las Vegas found the equalizer as forward Andrew Orpik deflected a Matt Watkins centering pass to tie the game at 2-2.
In the second period, Las Vegas pulled ahead for the first time of the night with a goal from defenseman Jason Krischuk. Andrew Orpik and Adam Miller found Krischuk down low to take the 3-2 Wranglers lead at 2:33. Las Vegas increased the lead to 4-2 with a power-play goal from forward Josh Prudden. Wranglers forward Ned Lukacevic and defenseman Robbie Bina set up Prudden's first tally on the season at 8:33 of the middle period.
In the final period, the Aces snuck back within one with forward John Lammers' team-leading sixth goal on the season. Lammers snapped in a loose puck at 14:30 to cut the deficit to one at to 4-3, which would prove to be the final score.
