GENEVA, IL - After winning three straight and outscoring their opposition 18-7 in the process, the Kane County Cougars saw the tables turn on Sunday afternoon as they dropped an 8-0 decision to the Clinton LumberKings in front of 6,729 fans at Elfstrom Stadium. Despite the loss the Cougars won the series and now start an eight-game road trip Monday night.

Starter Jamie Richmond (5-7) gave up six runs -- four in the second, two in the fifth -- on a career-high 13 hits, walked one and struck out four, suffering his fourth straight loss. Reliever Lance Sewell worked a couple of scoreless frames but then yielded two -- one earned -- in the eighth to account for the game's final runs, and Justin Friend worked a scoreless ninth.

The Cougars' offense mustered only five hits and struck out 11 times, 10 of which came against Clinton starter Neftali Feliz (6-2), who gave up three hits over six innings to post the win. Justin Frash went 2-for-5 as the only Cougar with a multi-hit effort.

The Cougars (3-1) start their long road trip Monday night at 7 CT against the Quad Cities River Bandits. Scott Mitchinson (5-2, 1.60) will face Richard Castillo (0-0, 0.00).
