Dayton, Ohio-The Great Lakes Loons scored six runs over the final three innings to break open a close game and defeat the Dayton Dragons 8-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons saw their four game winning streak come to an end as Great Lakes avoided a sweep of the four game series.

The Loons broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh inning when Travis Vetters singled Parker Dalton in from second base with one out against Dragons starting pitcher Matt Klinker (3-4). The Loons added another run in the seventh, one in the eighth, and three in the ninth for the win.

The Dragons collected eight hits over the first five innings but picked only three two-out singles over the final four frames to fall to 3-1 in the second half.

After Great Lakes scored one run in the top of the first inning, the Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Keltavious Jones, his fourth homer of the year.

Great Lakes briefly regained the lead in the third at 2-1, but the Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Justin Reed singled, went to third on Zack Cozart's single, and scored on a fielder's choice play off the bat of Logan Parker to make it 2-2.

The game remained tied until the seventh inning when the Loons took the lead against Klinker who suffered the loss. He worked six and one-third innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Dragons host South Bend on Monday at 7:00 p.m. (WING 1410 AM).
