Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars knocked off the Burlington Bees on Thursday night, 7-2, to pick up their third straight win, go to 6-0 at home against the Bees this season and improve to 6-1 at home in the second half of the season. Chad Kerfoot notched the win in his first pro start, Jason Glushon got a save in his Elfstrom Stadium debut, and Michael Richard went 3-for-3 with four stolen bases. The Cougars posted the win in front of 10,076 fans, the third 10,000-plus crowd this year.
Kerfoot (4-1) pitched five innings, allowed one run on three hits, walked none and struck out four to get the win, and Glushon worked the last four and yielded one tally -- in the ninth when it was 7-1 -- for the save.
The Cougars led 2-1 in the sixth when they broke it open. Jake Smith smashed a two-run double, and in the seventh Larry Cobb nailed a two-run single and Corey Brown connected for a sacrifice fly for a comfortable 7-1 lead.
The Cougars (8-7) go for the sweep Friday night at 6 CT when Scott Hodsdon (4-6, 3.55) goes against Alex Caldera (5-6, 3.52) for the Bees (8-7).
