Cougars Kick-Off Christmas Campaign Saturday

PRINCE GEORGE, BC- Prince George Cougars fans are invited to celebrate the holiday season by supporting various Prince George non-profit organizations at upcoming Cougars games in late November and early December. The Annual Cougars Christmas Campaign kicks off on Saturday, November 21st and partners the Cougars with several organizations to collect donations of various items for those in need over the winter months.

"Last season our fans showed outstanding support for our partners and were very generous in their donations of clothing, food, toys and other items. We are proud to work with the Salvation Army and other non-profits in our community who are working towards helping families in need through the holidays," said Cougars Vice President, Brandi Brodsky.

Cougars Community Christmas Campaign:

New Hope Society- Saturday, November 21; the Prince George New Hope Society provides services for Sexual Exploited Youth and Survival Sex Workers and will be collecting toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and other toiletries.

Floor Hockey at Prince George Youth Custody Centre- Wednesday, November 25; the Prince George Cougars will join youth at the YCC to play floor hockey. This event is closed to the media.

Gift of Hope Night- Friday, November 27; bring in new mittens, gloves, socks and hats, especially items for men, to support the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Rotary Food Drive- Saturday, November 28; the Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George is gathering food for the Prince George Food Bank at the November 28th game vs. Vancouver. Please bring non-perishable food items.

New Toy Drive- Wednesday, December 2; bring a toy or gift for kids from 0-17 years old and the Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George and the Salvation Army will arrange for them to be distributed with Christmas Cheer Packages.

Bucks for Big Brothers Big Sisters- Thursday, December 3rd; the Prince George Cougars will be joining diners at A&A Gourmet on Central Street to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George. Select Cougars players will be there from 11am until 1pm. A&A Gourmet will donate ten percent of all sales on December 3 and proceeds from all coffee sales that day to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George.

Christmas Kettles- Thursday, December 3rd; the Prince George Cougars will be at Pine Centre Mall from 6-7pm collecting donations for the Salvation Army's Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Coats for Kids- Friday, December 4; bring a gently used child's coat or jacket as the Cougars face off against the Kootenay Ice. The Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George and the Salvation Army will distribute the coats to kids in need.

SPCA Food & Supply Drive- Friday, December 18th; pet food and office supplies will be collected at the game to support the local SPCA.

Active Support Against Poverty Boot & Shoe Drive- Saturday, December 19th; Prince George Esporta Specialty Cleaners will be collecting new and used boots and shoes, and taking them to their location to put through the Esporta clean and sanitizing program. Esporta will then distribute the items to Active Support Against Poverty.

Teddy Bear & Toque Toss- Saturday, December 19; again this year the Cougars are including toques in their annual Teddy Bear Toss. When the Cats' score their first goal against the Kamloops Blazers Cougars fans can toss their stuffed bears and toques on the ice. The bears and toques will benefit the RCMP Victim Services Unit, the Salvation Army and other organizations in need over the holiday season.

All donations will be collected in Section X.
