Kane County Cougars News Release

Clinton, IA- The Kane County Cougars scored seven runs in the final three innings and overcame four errors for a 10-9 comeback win Saturday night against the Clinton LumberKings at Alliant Energy Field. Myron Leslie's homer in the eighth tied it, and Tommy Everidge's ninth-inning gave him the cycle and the Cougars the game-winning RBI.

Kane County trailed 9-3 entering the seventh but sent 11 men to the plate and scored five times in the frame. Kory Wayment, Leslie and Jose Pineda had run-scoring singles, and Nick Blasi's two-run hit cut it to 9-8. That set up Leslie's majestic solo blast in the eighth for the 9-9 score. Blasi smashed a one-out double in the ninth and scored on Everidge's triple to right centerfield.

The LumberKings built their big lead by scoring nine runs (four earned) in the first six frames against Cougars starter Jared Trout and relievers Steve Sharpe and Keith Perez. Clinton scored at least once in each of those innings before Jose Corchado, Marcus McBeth and Rob Semerano shut down the opponent in the latter portion of the game.

Trout allowed a run the first and second, but Kane County fought back in the third. Blasi led off with a single, and Everidge cracked a two-run homer to tie it. Wayment scored the go-ahead tally on Leslie's run-scoring grounder to make it 3-3.

McBeth (1-0) got the win, Semerano saved his seventh game and John Lujan (1-2) took the loss for Clinton. The series finale is Sunday afternoon at 2 CDT. Ryan Ford (6-4, 4.66) will pitch for the Cougars (2-1) against right-hander Kyle Rogers (3-4, 6.12) of the LumberKings (1-2).
