Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

The Cedar Rapids Kernels, in conjunction with their parent club the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, have announced that RHP T.J. Stanton has been put on the 7-day DL with a strained left oblique. Taking his place on the Kernels' roster will be RHP Casey Mutter, who is being called up from Orem.

Stanton had made 25 appearances for the Kernels, all out of the bullpen. His record was 3-4 with a 4.76 ERA and four saves. In 34 innings T.J. allowed 43 hits, 22 runs (18 earned), walked 15 and struck out 29.

Mutter, 23, was selected by the Angels in the 25th round of the 2004 Free Agent Draft. The Rialto, CA native played for Cal State San Bernardino and spent the 2004 season at Provo. He had no record in 18 appearances out of the bullpen and a 9.91 ERA. In 26-1/3 innings, Casey allowed 39 hits and 33 runs (29 earned) while walking 21 and striking out 31. In two starts for Orem in 2005, he has pitched three innings, allowing four runs (all earned), four hits, two walks and no strikeouts, with a 12.00 ERA.

Mutter is expected to arrive in Cedar Rapids this (Saturday) afternoon and will be available for tonight's game against Peoria, which starts at 7 pm.

This roster move puts the Kernels at 25 active players, the maximum allowed in the Midwest League.
