
Cougars Fall 6-4 Against Oil Kings To Begin Second Half Of Regular Season

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - In a gripping Wednesday night matchup at the CN Centre, the Prince George Cougars fought hard in a late comeback attempt but ultimately succumbed to a 6-4 defeat against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
The game opened with a dominant performance by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the first period, where they netted four goals. Ty Nash initiated the scoring just 2:10 into the game with his sixth goal of the season. Marshall Finnie extended the lead to 2-0 at 7:50, and Nash added two more power-play goals at 16:40 and 18:09, giving the Oil Kings a commanding 4-0 lead after the first twenty minutes. Goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen was relieved by Ty Young for the remainder of the game.
The Cougars mounted a significant turnaround in the second period, limiting the Oil Kings to just three shots on goal. Matteo Danis got the Cats on the scoreboard at 9:42, following a bone-crushing hit by Bauer Dumanski. Riley Heidt added another goal at 18:27, narrowing the gap to 4-2 going into the third period.
Despite the Cougars' efforts, the Oil Kings extended their lead to 5-2 early in the third period with Gavin Hodnett scoring at 3:41. The Cougars responded swiftly, with Aiden Foster tipping in his first WHL goal at 7:24, followed by Oren Shtrom jamming home his eighth of the season at 9:14, bringing the Cougars within one.
However, the Oil Kings secured the victory with an empty-net goal by Adam Jecho at 18:52, sealing a 6-4 win.
