LANGLEY, BC- The Prince George Cougars (14-17-1-1) Snapped their five-game winless streak with a 3-2 come from behind win in overtime over the Vancouver Giants (15-16-2-0) on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.
The win that much more impressive considering it comes on the heels of the Cougars having their last four games postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, and not having played in nearly two weeks.
GAME RECAP
Ethan Samson scored twice, including the game-winning goal at 1:58 of the three-on-three overtime period. Koehn Ziemmer scored his team-leading 11th goal in the second, as the Cougars erased a 2-0 deficit to roar back for three unanswered goals, as they won for the first time since December 17th.
Tyler Brennan was at his best in the Cougars' crease as he stopped 37 of 39 shots for his sixth win. Brennan now owns .935 save percentage in four games against Vancouver.
Prince George went 0-1 on the power play and did not take a single penalty in the victory. The Cougars are now 4-4-0-0 in eight games against the Giants this season.
QUOTE
"That was the most enjoyable win of the season given the circumstances. Playing on national television, coming back from two goals down, and coming out of COVID protocol. To find a way to battle back and win is outstanding for the group," said Associate Coach Josh Dixon.
