Cote recalled by Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Jean-Philippe Cote from the Hamilton Bulldogs. In addition, the Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed defenseman Ron Hainsey off waivers. Hainsey was placed on waivers yesterday by the Montreal Canadiens.

Cote, 23, has played 14 games with the Bulldogs this season, going scoreless while recording 34 penalty minutes. The native of Quebec City, Quebec has appeared in 140 career AHL games, posting 3g-15a-18pts and 171 penalty minutes.

Hainsey, 24, appeared in 22 games with Hamilton, collecting 3g-14a-17pts and 19 penalty minutes. The native of Bolton, Connecticut, is the Bulldogs all-time leader among defensemen in goals (21), assists (63), and points (84). He has skated in 244 career AHL games, producing 29g-87a-116pts and 151 penalty minutes. In 32 career NHL games, Hainsey has recorded 1g-1a-2pts and 6 penalty minutes.

The Bulldogs next game is tonight, Tuesday, November 29, when they face the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs next home game will take place on Friday, December 2, when the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, visit Copps Coliseum for the third time this season. Both teams will be wearing specialty jerseys honouring the rivalry between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. Tiger-Cat and Argonaut players and alumni will be in attendance. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
