BURLINGTON, IA -- The Burlington Bees scored eight times in the second inning on their way to a 10-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Wednesday night at Community Field. Luis Cota allowed one run on two hits over seven innings and Rusty Brown homered and drove in three runs to lead the Bees to the win.

Timber Rattler starter Cibney Bello worked a 1-2-3 first inning, but got into trouble quickly in the bottom of the second. He walked Brown, the leadoff batter. Brian McFall hit a 1-2 pitch for a two-run homer and an early 2-0 lead for Burlington. Bello hit the next two batters on his next two pitches and gave up an RBI single to Gary Perez. Cody Cure followed with a two-run single to make the score 5-0.

A single and a walk loaded the bases. The first out was recorded on a force play at the plate. But, with the bases still loaded, Bello gave up a two run single to Brown. The final run scored on a throwing error by Rattler catcher. A walk to McFall, the eleventh man to bat in the inning, was the end of the night for Bello.

Brown hit a solo homer with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 9-0 Bees.

Wisconsin (68-55 overall, 29-24 second half) got on the board when Cota threw a wild pitch with Brent Johnson on third base in the top of the sixth inning.

Burlington (62-61, 28-25) regained their nine run advantage on a sacrifice fly by McFall.

Cota pitched seven innings and struck out five for his fifth win of the season.

The Rattlers loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the eighth inning against Burlington reliever Adam Rowe. But, once again, the Rattlers would only score because of a wild pitch.

The Rattlers and Bees wrap up their regular season series Thursday night. Julio Santiago (4-3, 5.13ERA) is scheduled to start for Wisconsin. Burlington will send Dusty Dossett (0-0, 1.29ERA) to the mound. Game time is 7:00pm.
