
Cory Larose Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former
Jackson Bandits and current Chicago Wolves forward Cory Larose is the
MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for December.
Larose recorded seven goals and seven assists in the month of December to
help the Wolves move into first place in the American Hockey League's West
Division. In 34 games in 2004-05, Larose ranks third on Chicago with 28
points (13g-16a).
In his first professional season in 2000-01 with Jackson of the ECHL, the
6-0 and 188-pound Larose scored 53 points (21g-32a) in 63 regular season
games and four points (2g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff games. Larose also
played in the International Hockey League in 2000-01, scoring two points
(1g-1a) in four games with Cleveland.
Larose, who was not drafted, signed his first National Hockey League
contract with the Minnesota Wild in May 2000 and made his NHL debut in
February 2004 with the New York Rangers. The 29-year-old Larose had one
assist in seven games with the Rangers in 2003-04 while also playing in the
AHL with Hartford. He shared the team lead with 36 assists and ranked
fourth in scoring with 49 points (13g-36a) in 69 regular season games, and
he helped Hartford advance to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2004
Calder Cup Playoffs, scoring 10 points (4g-6a) in 14 games.
Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Larose was named to the AHL All-Rookie
Team in 2001-02 after scoring a career-high 32 goals and 64 points in 78
regular season games with Houston. He has scored 271 points (107g-164a) in
330 minor league games and scored 180 points (61g-119a) in 146 games during
four seasons at the University of Maine.
The ECHL has affiliations with 23 of the 28 teams in the AHL in 2004-05
and is represented in the American Hockey League coaching ranks with five
head coaches and 10 assistant coaches, working behind the bench of 15 of
teams. In 2003-04, there were more than 90 players on AHL contracts in the
ECHL and more than 220 players played in both the ECHL and the AHL. The
ECHL had 425 call-ups, involving 234 players, to the AHL during the 2003-04
regular season.
