Cooley Breaks Rebound Record in Stampede Win

Boise, IDAHO - Jack Cooley set a new NBA D-League single-game record by grabbing 29 rebounds in a 129-116 Stampede win Friday night. The record was previously held by Rod Benson (Dakota Wizards, 2007) and Dwayne Jones (Austin Toros, 2009).

Los Angeles jumped out to a 9-2 advantage early in the game but struggled to keep Idaho off the offensive glass. Cooley made his presence felt early and often with six points and seven rebounds in the first quarter. Both teams finished the up-tempo game shooting over 50 percent from the floor. The game saw 21 lead changes before Idaho scored 39 points in the fourth quarter and finished the game on an 11-4 run.

Cooley scored a team-high 27 points to go with his record-setting 29 rebounds. The Stampede had seven players score in double figures including the entire starting lineup. Grant Jerrett and Ian Clark combined for 28 points on assignment from the Utah Jazz. Jared Cunningham made his Stampede debut by scoring 16 points off the bench.

Vander Blue led all scorers with 30 points while adding six rebounds and nine assists. Roscoe Smith recorded his 30th double-double of the season by posting 27 points and 11 rebounds.

The Stampede are now 4-1 against Los Angeles this season. The two teams square off again tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
