FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 12, 2015) - The Texas Legends fell short in the final seconds against the Delaware 87ers Thursday night at Dr Pepper Arena.
Delaware utilized their outside shooting to outrun the Legends. Hitting 8-of-15 in the first quarter, the Sevens got an early advantage they would hold through halftime.
Texas came out of the locker room firing, chipping away as Delaware fought to answer. With 3:41 in the third Justin Dentmon knocked down a long ball to give the Legends their first lead of the night that they carried into the fourth 96-91. The fourth quarter saw a battle on both ends of the court as each team struggled offensively. The Sevens regained the lead halfway through but the Legends answered immediately. After five tie-ups the Sevens found the advantage that would secure their 122-119 victory.
Mavericks assignee Dwight Powell led the Legends with 24 points, 11 rebounds. Dentmon added 20 points in his second game with the team and Ricky Ledo and Eric Griffin added 16 each.
DJ Seeley posted a game-high 28 points to lead Delaware while Drew Gordon grabbed the team's only double-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds.
Texas will return to the court Saturday night hosting the Austin Spurs at 7pm. The game will be broadcast live on television-Texas 47-and radio-KVCE1160am.
