Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that guard Will Conroy (6-2, 195, Washington) is the eighth GATORADE Call-Up in franchise history, and the Vipers' league-leading sixth this season, after signing a 10-day contract with the Houston Rockets.

Conroy takes the roster spot of guard Garrett Temple (6-5, 180, LSU), whose second 10-day contract is complete.

"We are maximizing our partnership with the Vipers, as it has been very productive for both sides. This serves as yet another example, as Viper Garrett Temple had a productive stay with the Houston Rockets and filled in admirably while the team was hampered by injuries in the backcourt. On the other side, Will Conroy has raised his play to an elite level over the past couple of weeks in leading the Vipers to a strong run after the break. While Garrett's performance made a strong impression, Will's impressive play coupled with our need to maintain roster flexibility was the reason why we went in this direction," said Rockets Vice President of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas, who is also the General Manager of the Vipers.

Named NBA Development Performer of the Week for the first time this season and a record fifth time in his career yesterday, Conroy averaged 19.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 13.8 assists in six games after rejoining the Vipers on February 9 following his first 10-day contract with the Houston Rockets.

In two games with the Rockets, Conroy scored four points while picking up two rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes of action as the back-up point guard.

In 19 games with the Vipers, Conroy averaged 15.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 10.1 assists and 1.4 steals.

This is Conroy's second GATORADE Call-Up of the season and the fifth of his career. Conroy received three GATORADE Call-Ups during the 2006-07 season, playing in three games after one call-up with the Memphis Grizzlies and four games after two call-ups with the Los Angeles Clippers. Overall, he picked up nine assists and seven rebounds in 51 minutes of action.

Conroy is the NBA Development League's all-time leader in assists (1,460), minutes played (6,498), field goals made (1,059), free throws made (738) and free throws attempted (1,049). He is second all-time in points (3,075) and field goals attempted (2,208), third all-time in steals (270) and games played (171), fifth all-time in three-pointers made (219) and three-pointers attempted (611) and fifteenth all-time in rebounds (831).

Conroy becomes the tenth Vipers alumnus in the NBA at this point, joining Mike Harris (Washington Wizards), Jermaine Taylor (Rockets), Antonio Anderson (Oklahoma City Thunder), Jawad Williams (Cleveland Cavaliers), C.J. Watson (Golden State Warriors), Aaron Brooks (Rockets), Shannon Brown (Los Angeles Lakers), Joey Dorsey (Sacramento Kings) and Steve Novak (Los Angeles Clippers).

In nine games with the Rockets, Temple averaged 5.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes. Temple scored 11 points twice, on February 17 in a win at Milwaukee and on February 27 in a loss at Utah. He hit 13-of-29 shots (44.8%).

An All-NBA Development League Showcase honorable mention selection, Temple averaged 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 34.9 minutes over the course of 30 games and starts for the Vipers. He shot 42.7% from the field, 37.2% from behind the arc and 80.4% from the free throw line.
