March 2, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, March 2, 2010 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds announced today that the team has acquired center Shagari Alleyne. Alleyne was on the Thunderbirds training camp roster prior to the start of the 2009-10 season.

"Unfortunately he didn't make our opening day roster, but we're glad that we had the opportunity to call him back," said Thunderbirds head coach John Coffino. "He will be another force for us down low."

Alleyne played his college ball at the University of Kentucky, appearing in 69 games. He had career averages of 2.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.91 blocks, while shooting 57.0% from the floor and 65.2% from the foul line.

He was drafted by the Thunderbirds in the 2009 NBA Development League Draft with the team's fifth round pick, and was one of the final two players cut from the training camp roster.

The 7-3 center most recently played for the Halifax Rainmen of the Premier Basketball League.

Alleyne will make his Thunderbirds debut when the team takes on the Dakota Wizards tonight in Bismarck, N.D. The game will begin at 6:00 pm MT and fans can listen to all the action live on 1050 KTBL beginning at 6 pm.

The team will return home on March 5 when the team plays host to the Idaho Stampede. Call 505-265-3865 for more information on how to bring your group out to the game for as low as $4 per person.
