
Connecticut Set To Tip Off Seventh Season

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (June 5, 2009) - The Connecticut Sun will open its seventh season on Saturday, June 6th at Mohegan Sun Arena, hosting the Eastern Conference rival Washington Mystics at 4 p.m.
Opening Day entertainment will include Radio Disney, which will be at the game with its Fan Patrol, and SpongeBob Squarepants. Recycled Percussion will provide the halftime entertainment, and Blaze the Connecticut Sun mascot will be on hand to meet with young fans after the game.
Connecticut, which made its final roster cuts Thursday night, will be anchored by the All Star tandem of point guard Lindsay Whalen and forward Asjha Jones. Also expected to start Saturday are rookie center Chante Black, shooting guard Erin Phillips and forward Kerri Gardin. Barbara Turner, Amber Holt, Tamika Whitmore, Lauren Ervin, Kristi Cirone and Kiesha Brown round out the Sun roster.
The Sun have never had a losing season, and will look to get off to a quick start as they begin their quest for a seventh straight trip to the WNBA playoffs.
