March 3, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Kevin St. Jacques had two assists and Yutaka Fukufuji missed a shutout by just six seconds as the Bakersfield Condors defeated the San Diego Gulls 4-1 at the Rabobank Arena on Wednesday night. Bakersfield finishes the season series with a 6-2-1 record against San Diego.

Bakersfield took the early lead when former Gull Ashlee Langdone banged in his third goal of the season at 4:51 on a feed from Kevin St. Jacques. St. Jacques helped the Condors extend the lead with an assist on Mathieu Brunelle's power play tally at 12:23. Brunelle has two goals and an assist in his two games since being acquired from Dayton on Monday.

Dennis Shiryaev scored the only goal of the middle frame, chipping a rebound past Eddy Ferhi for his 12th goal of the season and ending his 16-game drought. Defenseman Ryan Gillis picked up the fourth Condors goal during the third period, sneaking in from the blue line and snapping a one-timer home for his seventh of the season. Joel Stepp ruined Fukufuji's shutout bid with only 5.6 seconds remaining in the game for the final tally.

The Condors head to Victoria for a pair this weekend against the Salmon Kings on Friday and Saturday night. Both matches start at 7:00 p.m. The Condors return for a March 11th meeting with the Alaska Aces at the Rabobank Arena. That night the ZOOperstars return to Bakersfield, led by Shaquille O'Seal and LeBronco James, and sponsored by Bright House Networks and 101.5 KGFM.
