Johnson, King snap runner-up honors

The Augusta Lynx announced today that Jamie Johnson has been named runner-up for CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month honors for February, and Colt King has been named runner-up for CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month.

Johnson, 22, comes off a month in which he registered a point in all but two of Augusta's games to help the team to a 7-2-2 mark during February. Starting the month on the second half of a career-high tying eight game point scoring streak, the Port Franks, Ontario native also tallied three power play and three game winning goals during February. The sophomore center and winger also had four multiple-point efforts during the month – 2/5 vs. FLA (1-2-3), 2/13 vs. CHR (0-3-3), 2/19 vs. PD (2-3-5), and 2/26 vs. GWT (2-1-3).

With a total of 19 goals and 61 points, Johnson leads the Lynx in both categories this season, and is currently fourth in ECHL scoring.

South Carolina's Ed Courtenay was named CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for February.

After scoring five goals and 12 points for February, Colt King received his first nomination for Rookie of the Month honors and just missed top marks. His top performance of the month came in a 6-2 win over the Pee Dee Pride where he notched two goals and four points. King also scored the game winning goal against Florida on 2/1 in a 4-2 win.

Pensacola center Scott May won CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month honors with eight goals and 16 points with a +6 rating in February.

The Lynx are back in action this weekend, playing the Inferno in Columbia both Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm, followed by a Sunday matinee contest against the Pride in Pee Dee, slated for a 2:30 pm faceoff. Augusta's next home game will be on Saturday, March 12th against the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:35 pm.
