The Augusta Lynx announced today that Jamie Johnson has been named runner-up for CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month honors for February, and Colt King has been named runner-up for CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month.
Johnson, 22, comes off a month in which he registered a point in all but two of Augusta's games to help the team to a 7-2-2 mark during February. Starting the month on the second half of a career-high tying eight game point scoring streak, the Port Franks, Ontario native also tallied three power play and three game winning goals during February. The sophomore center and winger also had four multiple-point efforts during the month â 2/5 vs. FLA (1-2-3), 2/13 vs. CHR (0-3-3), 2/19 vs. PD (2-3-5), and 2/26 vs. GWT (2-1-3).
With a total of 19 goals and 61 points, Johnson leads the Lynx in both categories this season, and is currently fourth in ECHL scoring.
South Carolina's Ed Courtenay was named CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for February.
After scoring five goals and 12 points for February, Colt King received his first nomination for Rookie of the Month honors and just missed top marks.
