CHARLOTTE, NC â Checkers Head Coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that 6'6", 258-pound defenseman Martin Grenier has been assigned to Charlotte by their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. He is expected to play this Saturday, March 5th, when the Checkers host the Greenville Grrrowl at 7 p.m.
The 25-year-old Grenier made his NHL debut on October 11, 2001 at Chicago. A native of Laval, Quebec, Grenier has appeared in 15 career matches with the Vancouver Canucks and the Phoenix Coyotes, registering one goal, along with 14 penalty minutes. He tallied his first NHL goal/point on February 3, 2004 versus the New York Islanders. He has also appeared in 50 matches with the Manitoba Moose and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, registering five goals and six assists for 11 points, along with 250 penalty minutes.
