
Pensacola's May Named CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Pensacola center Scott May is the CCM Vector ECHL
Rookie of the Month for February.
Selected in the seventh round (222nd overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs
in the 2002 National Hockey League Draft, May tied for the team lead in
scoring with 16 points (8g-8a) and in plus-minus (+6) in 12 games in the
month of February. He was runner-up for ECHL Player of the Week after
scoring five points (3g-2a) in two games.
The 23-year-old May scored in nine of the 12 games he played and recorded
multiple-point games five times helping the Ice Pilots go 10-2-0 in
February and maintain first-place in the American Conference. He started
the month with a five-game scoring streak (4g-7a) and scored the
game-winning goal against Texas on February 11.
Since joining Pensacola on January 15, the 5-11 and 195-pound May has
scored in 15 of 21 games, accumulating 23 points (11g-12a), two
game-winning goals and a plus-minus rating of +11.
Under contract to St. John's of the American Hockey League, May played
five games for St. John's in 2003-04, scoring a goal and an assist, after
completing his senior season at Ohio State University. He started 2004-05
with St. John's and had one assist and 21 penalty minutes in 16 games
before joining Pensacola.
A native of Surrey, British Columbia, May scored 34 points (15g-19a) in
his senior year at Ohio State and helped the Buckeyes win their first
Central Collegiate Hockey Association Championship since 1972. May, who
played four seasons at Ohio State, appeared in 124 consecutive games and
finished with 116 points (46g-70a) in 161 career games.
