Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors Professional Hockey Team of the ECHL has announced the addition of C Kevin Riehl and D Randy Perry to the roster.
Reihl, 32, has played 434 games in 11 pro seasons. He last played in North America in 1994-95 with Raleigh in the ECHL. That season, he scored 79 points in just 64 games. Since then, he has skated two seasons in Germany, two in Italy, and four years in the British Ice Hockey Superleague. While in the BISL, he won a pair of championships â first in 1999-2000 and most recently last season in Belfast. In 99-00, he was named the BISL's Best Forward and voted the league's Player's Player. He won a scoring title with Belfast in 2001-02, when he led the league with 37 assists and 54 points.
The New Jersey Devils drafted the Leader, Saskatchewan native in the 11th round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded 147 points in 126 games in North America, the only games counted by the ECHL in their "Veteran" status. Riehl also notched 231 points in his final two seasons in the junior ranks. Nearly all of his games in North America have been played in the ECHL.
Perry, 27, joins the Condors after beginning the season in the Utah Grizzlies (American Hockey League) training camp, where he was playing alongside current Condors D Jonas Lennartsson and G Peter Hirsch. Perry played last season in the highly-touted German Elite League (DEL), where he notched nine points (3g-6a) in 28 games.
The Edmonton, Alberta native split the previous season between Louisiana in the ECHL and a pair of AHL clubs. He also spent two seasons in Germany earlier in his career, as well as a year playing in London and one season with the Canadian National Team. He recorded 49 points (12g-37a) in 66 games during his final year in juniors.
The Condors have also traded the rights to rookie winger Mike Wirll, dealing him to the Charlotte Checkers in exchange for cash. Wirll notched one point in five regular season games last year. He added another point in five playoff games.
The Condors make their ECHL debut in just nine days, on Friday, October 17th, hosting the Fresno Falcons Opening Night. Season ticket packages are available starting at just $48, and group outings are also available.
