Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC – Greensboro Generals Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono has announced the signing of center Matt Turek.

Turek, known to fans and teammates as "Turkey," rejoins the Generals for a second consecutive season, after proving to be one of the most reliable additions to the team in 2002-03. After not playing in the ECHL since the 2000-01 with Birmingham, Turek had the second-best goal scoring season of his career (26-Alexandria, WPHL) with the Generals last year. He played in 69 contests, registering 20 goals, 30 assists and 50 points. His play in the 2002-03 playoffs was instrumental in the success of the Generals, after he posted two goals, two assists for four points in eight games.

Turek has played outside the ECHL for only one other team, when in 1999-00 he played for the Alexandria of the WPHL. This stop proved to be his most impressive statistical season, where he played in 71 games, 26 goals, registering 54 assists and 80 points.

The Generals open the season at home on October 17th at 7:30 PM against the South Carolina Stingrays. Next up is the newly formed Texas Wildcatters who visit the Greensboro Coliseum for the first time on October 23rd at 7:30 PM.

Individual tickets for all Greensboro Generals 2003-04 home games are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased at the Coliseum advance box office, all participating Triad area Lowes Foods locations, on-line at www.tickets.com and by calling toll free (888) 397-3100.
