DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The TinCaps overcame a three-run deficit to beat the Quad Cities River Bandits (Kansas City Royals affiliate), 7-3, on Saturday night at Modern Woodmen Park. With the victory, Fort Wayne has won five of its last six games, and clinched a series victory. The 'Caps are 3-0-1 over their last four series.

Early on the Bandits built a 3-0 lead with a run in the second and two more in the third. However, from that point on, Fort Wayne pitchers buckled down. Starter Victor Lizarraga (No. 7 Padres prospect) struck out three over five innings.

Meanwhile, the TinCaps scored twice in the fifth. Right fielder Joshua Mears (No. 14 Padres prospect) doubled in a run and center fielder Jakob Marsee (No. 22 Padres prospect) singled home another with two outs.

Then Mears hit a game-tying solo homer in the seventh -- his fifth long ball of the season.

Second baseman Lucas Dunn hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth. Third baseman Marcos Castañon added insurance in the ninth with a two-out, two-run homer that traveled 444 feet, the longest of the season for the team. Castañon finished with a game-high three hits, including his 13th double of the year (which ranks top-five in the Midwest League).

Following Lizarraga, Edwuin Bencomo worked two scoreless innings of relief, and Ethan Routzahn and Adam Smith each pitched a scoreless frame.

The 'Caps conclude their road trip tomorrow.
