Columbus Blue Jackets Add Forward Dane Byers to the Roster on Emergency Recall

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have added forward Dane Byers to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

Byers, 25, is scoreless with 24 penalty minutes and has an even plus/minus rating in five games with Columbus this season. He has registered 14-16-30 and has 102 penalty minutes in 50 games with Springfield. He ranks second on the Falcons in power play goals (six) and penalty minutes and is third in goals and fourth in points. He has appeared in 11 career NHL games, including six with the New York Rangers, and has 1-0-1 and 55 penalty minutes.

A native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Byers was the NY Rangers' fourth pick, 48th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft. He made his professional debut with Hartford (AHL) in 2005-06 and has collected 92-129-221, 753 penalty minutes in 355 career AHL games with Hartford/Connecticut, Springfield and San Antonio. Prior to his professional career, he notched 49-50-99 and 518 penalty minutes in 236 games with Price Albert of the Western Hockey League.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when the club visits the St. Louis Blues. Game time from Scottrade Center is set for 8 p.m. ET.
