
Bulldogs Drop 5-0 Decision To Marlies ,

HAMILTON, ON - The Toronto Marlies scored two shorthanded empty net goals in the last two minutes of the game to defeat the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-0 in the 10th of 12 "Battle of Ontario" matchups this season.
The Marlies took at 1-0 lead at 12:29 in the second period when an odd deflection led to Juraj Mikus' third goal of the season. The Marlies would add another goal just 1:21 later when Colton Orr beat Bulldogs netminder Nathan Lawson on the far side.
With 9:30 left to play in the third period, Ryan Hamilton made it 3-0 Marlies. His 22nd goal of the season was scored on the power play, following a series of passes from Philippe Dupuis and Josh Engel. Mike Zigomanis and Philippe Dupuis would each add shorthanded empty net goals less than two minutes apart to cement the Marlies' 5-0 win.
The Bulldogs registered 71 hits in the game to the Marlies' 54, with Ian Schultz leading the 'Dogs with 9. The provincial rivals were tied at 23 on the final shot clock. A 2011-2012 Copps Coliseum record crowd of 8,692 took in the action for Pink in the Rink on Cogeco night.
The 'Dogs start their 25-day road trip TOMORROW, Saturday, March 10th, 2012 with the second game of their home-and-home series against the Toronto Marlies at 3 p.m. at RICOH Coliseum.
