Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals struggles continued against the Rockford IceHogs as they lost their fifth straight game to the I-39 rivals 4-1 Saturday night at the Bradley Center.
Hogs netminder Carter Hutton put on another stellar performance stopping 22 of 23 shots for his sixth win of the year against Milwaukee. In those six contests against the Ads, Hutton has only surrendered seven goals.
Rockford forward, Brandon Svendsen, lead the way for the IceHogs scoring a goal and an assist in the winning effort.
The first period started off hot for the Admirals as they created two good scoring chances in the opening minutes of the game, but quickly cooled off as the IceHogs picked up the tempo.
After failing to capitalize on the early scoring opportunities the Ads next chance to score came on a two on one breakaway lead by Victor Bartley and Chris Mueller, however Bartley fanned on his shot and missed the net. Soon after, Chris DiDomenico put the Hogs on the board when he slapped in a stray puck that got away from Milwaukee goaltender Jeremy Smith at 13:11 into the period.
Plagued by missed opportunities the second period was much of the same for the Ads. On more than one occasion the Admirals found themselves on the good side of a mismatched breakaway but couldn't put anything past Hutton. Fortunately for Milwaukee, the Hogs weren't able to generate much offense either and the score remained 1-0 going into the third.
The Ads one goal deficit became two at 5:33 into the third as Svendsen beat Smith glove side on a slap-shot from the right faceoff circle.
Milwaukee's Jonathan Blum quickly answered with a goal of his own that came on a slap-shot from the point at 6:20 into the period. The powerplay goal by Blum came with assist from Bartley and Mueller narrowing the Hogs lead back to one.
The slim deficit was short lived though, as Philippe Paradis scored at 9:23 to put the Hogs up three to one. The final goal came on an empty netter from Peter LeBlanc with 0:44 left in the game.
The Admirals head out on a three game road trip beginning tomorrow night in Rockford at 4:00 pm. The Admirals aren't back home until Friday, March 23rd when they face the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:00 pm.
