TORONTO, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs held the lead for most of the game, but the Toronto Marlies earned an overtime victory in the second game of this weekend's home-and-home series between the provincial and divisional rivals.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at 12:13 into the first period, when Frederic St-Denis' power play shot was deflected past Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens. St-Denis snapped a 36-game goalless streak with his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Brian Willsie and Andreas Engqvist.
The 'Dogs held the lead until 9:04 into the second period, when Kelsey Wilson scored his fifth of the season on a breakaway after exiting the penalty box. Greg Scott and Juraj Mikus assisted on the play to tie the game at 1.
Then, with just 2:21 left in sudden death overtime, Mike Zigomanis sent a bullet past Bulldogs netminder Nathan Lawson to give the Marlies a 2-1 victory. Toronto outshot the Bulldogs 32-23 in the game.
