Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins shutout the Worcester Sharks 2-0 Saturday evening at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Kirk MacDonald and Trent Whitfield, while Michael Hutchinson made 34 saves in net for the shutout. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, March 18 at 4:05 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons for Kid's T-Shirt Night.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took the 1-0 lead at the 12:25 mark of the second period. Kevan Miller held the puck at the point and sent it to the opposite point for Andrew Bodnarchuk. He took a shot and the loose puck was picked up by MacDonald, who put it into the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:56 mark of the third period. Whitfield tallied his fifth goal of the season, while Jamie Tardif recorded the lone assist. Providence went onto the 2-0 victory.
Tyson Sexsmith made 28 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins return to The Dunk Sunday, March 18 for Kid's T-Shirt Night presented by Dunkin' Donuts, Seekonk Supply and East Coast Embroidery at 4:05 p.m. against the Falcons.
