Windsor, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are 15-7-1 on the 2003-04 season. The Eagles take on the Wichita Thunder Friday, December 12; face-off is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles with then face off with the New Mexico Scorpions for the first televised game in Eagles history (broadcast on UPN 20) Saturday, December 13; the puck with drop at 2:37 p.m. at the Bud Barn. December 3 â Colorado Eagles vs Memphis RiverKings EAGLES 4-3 OT
The Scorpions struck early in the first period when defenseman Shaun Peet netted a goal from left wingers Kevin Edgar and Josh Tymchak 4:28 into the period. Although the Eagles out shot the Scorpions 15 to 9, Colorado did not score. The period ended with a 1-0 Scorpion lead.
The second period began on a Scorpion power play. New Mexico defenseman Jeff Alcombrack scored on the power play (2:20) from left wingers Mike Possin and Edgar. The Eagles out shot the Scorpions again in the second 18 to 9, but couldn't get the puck past New Mexico netminder Danny Lorenz. The period ended with a 2-0 New Mexico lead.
The Eagles began the third period eager to score, and that's exactly what center Riley Nelson did only one minute twelve seconds into the period when he scored on a power play from defensemen Williamson and Swanson. Eagles left winger Tobler netted a goal (9:22) from Swanson and Nelson, evening the score 2-2. Twenty seconds later the Scorpions answered Tobler's goal when defenseman Vladimir Hartinger scored from center Mike Oliveira. Still fighting, the Eagles scored again (16:40) when Tobler struck on a power play from Nelson and Williamson. The period ended with a 3-3 tie, sending the game into overtime.
With only nine seconds remaining in overtime, Tobler netted the game winning goal and his first hat trick of the season from Swanson and Nelson, ending the game 4-3 Eagles.
Eagles goaltender Gian Baldrica saved 24 of 27 shots on goal. The Eagles out shot the New Mexico Scorpions 58 to 27.
December 5 â Colorado Eagles @ Corpus Christis Ice Rayz ICE RAYZ 6-4
The Eagles struck early in the first period (3:02) when left winger McGhan netted a goal from defenseman Thompson and forward Zirnis. The Eagles struck two more times before the end of the period. Seventeen minutes into the period right winger Tobler scored from line mates center Nelson and right winger Pankewicz. One minute forty five seconds later defensman Ruff netted a goal from forward Bohac. With only forty four seconds left, the Ice Rayz center Jay Woodcroft scored from left winger Jonathan St. Louis and defenseman Mike Tilson. The period ended with a 3-1 Eagles lead.
The second period remained scoreless (but not scrumless) until 12: 41 when the Rayz defenseman Tilson netted a power play goal from left winger St. Louis and right winger Jaroslav Jabrocky. Colorado answered Corpus Christi four minutes thirteen seconds later (16:54) when right winger Pankewicz scored from center Nelson and left winger Tobler. Rayz center Woodcroft struck for the second time in the game 18:44 into the period from defenseman Mike Rodrigues and left winger Patrick Levesque, ending the period with a 4-2 Eagles lead.
The third period began on a Corpus Christi power play and center Woodcroft took full advantage of it. He netted his third goal of the game, earning a hat trick, only thirty seconds into the period from defenseman Tilson and left winger St. Louis. Center Woodcroft struck again, scoring the game winner and his fourth goal of the game, from left winger St. Louis 6:14 into the period. Fifteen minutes fifty one seconds into the period, Corpus Christi closed the door on the Eagles when left winger St. Louis netted a goal from center Woodcroft and forward Levesque. The game ended with a 6-4 Ice Rayz victory.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach saved 27 of 33 shots on goal. The Eagles out shot the Corpus Christi Ice Rayz 44 to 33.
December 6 â Colorado Eagles @ Laredo Bucks BUCKS 4-3
The Eagles center Nelson struck twice early in the first period. He netted the first goal of the game from left winger Tobler 3:33 into the period and scored his second goal of the game two minutes thirty six seconds later (6:09) from right winger Pankewicz and left winger Tobler. Laredo answered back (9:25) when defenseman Serge Dube netted a power play goal from center Jeff Bess and right winger Chris Grenville. Fifteen minutes thirty seven second later the Bucks evened the score when center Patrick Nilson scored on another power play from defenseman Dube and right winger Brent Cullaton. The period ended with a 2-2 tie.
The second period remained scoreless until seventeen minutes ten seconds into the period when Laredo's right winger James Hierbert netted the Bucks thrid power play goal from defensemen J.F. David and Mike Vellinga, ending the period with a 3-2 Bucks lead.
Fourteen minutes fifty two seconds into the third period Eagles left winger McGhan scored from forward Zirnis, evening the score, 3-3. With only twenty six second left in the game Laredo's right winger Cullaton scored the game winning goal. The game ended with a 4-3 Laredo victory.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach saved 25 of 29 shots on goal. The Bucks out shot the Eagles 29 to 24.
December 7 â Colorado Eagles @ Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees EAGLES 2-0
The Eagles dominated the first period of play, out shooting Rio Grande 11 to 7 in the period. The period remained scoreless until only two minutes eleven seconds (17:49) remaining in the period center Riley Nelson took advantage of a power play and netted a goal from defenseman Bondarevs and left winger Tobler. The period ended with a 1-0 Eagles lead.
The second period remained scoreless; however, the Killer Bees dominated the Eagles net with 24 shots (the Eagles had only 8). Because of the incredible performance of Eagles netminder Ryan Bach along with outstanding play from Colorado's defense, the Killer Bees were never able to score, ending the period with the same, 1-0, Eagles lead.
The third period remained scoreless until right winger Pankewicz struck on a Killer Bee empty net, scoring a goal from center Nelson with only twenty six seconds (19:34) remaining in the period. The game ended with a 2-0 Eagle, shut out, victory.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach had his first perfect game of the 2003-04 season, saving 40 of 40 shots on goal. The Killer Bees out shot the Eagles 40 to 25.

Although the team is on the road, the Coach's show will air tonight on 1410 the Zone live from Bennigans at 5 p.m. Eagles play-by-play personality Tori Holt and Head Coach Chris Stewart will call in from San Angelo Texas to discuss the team last 4 games. Phil Crowe, Fraser Filipic, and Cam Kuzyk will be at Bennigans tonight to add commentary to the show and to meet fans. If fans cannot make it they are encourage to call in with questions. A pair of tickets to Friday and Saturday's games will be given away at the show.

Notes: The Colorado Eagles have faced the Scorpions four times this season; October 31 in New Mexico the Eagles lost to the Scorpions, 5-3; November 7 at the Budweiser Events Center the Eagles thrashed the Scorpions, 8-2; November 14 at the Budweiser Events Center the Eagles were victorious against the Scorpions, 6-3; December 3 at the Budweiser Events Center where the Eagles left winger Ryan Tobler scored the game winning goal with only nine seconds left in overtime, 4-3.
