Corpus Christi, Texas: December 8, 2003 – Corpus Christi Rayz forward Jay Woodcroft has been named the Nike/Bauer CHL Player of the Week, the Central Hockey League announced Monday afternoon. Woodcroft had four goals and two assists in two games played last week.

Friday night, Woodcroft put together a career game and tallied a league high four goals in one game against the Colorado Eagles. He added two assists and recorded another CHL high six points in one game against the Colorado Eagles. His outstanding performance sparked the Rayz to a 6-4 comeback victory. The Rayz were trailing 3-0, before Woodcroft got the team on the board and swung the momentum in favor of Corpus Christi. In Friday night's game, Woodcroft had a hand in all six of the Rayz goals.

His performance propelled him to the top of the Rayz scoring leader board. This season, in 21 games Woodcroft has nine goals, eight assists and 17 points. His hat trick was the first three goal game recorded by the Rayz this season. The 6'1", 190 lbs center out of Toronto, Ontario is an excellent two-way forward for the Rayz. He is a face-off specialist and sees regular time on the power-play and penalty kill.

Prior to the beginning of this season, Woodcroft was one of six Rayz players who was sent to the Houston Aeros training camp of the American Hockey League. Jay Woodcroft currently leads the Rayz in goals and points on the team's active roster.
