CHL Announces Bauer/Nike Player of the Week, Vaughn Goaltender of the Week

Corpus Chris center Jay Woodcroft has been named Bauer/Nike Central Hockey League Player of the Week following one of the most dominating single game performances in the CHL this year, while Rio Grande Valley netminder Jeff Levy has been selected as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week after recording his CHL-leading third shutout of the season.
Trailing visiting Colorado 3-0 late in the first period December 5th, Woodcroft led the Rayz to a remarkable 6-4 come from behind victory, figuring in on all six Corpus Christi goals. Woodcroft had a goal late in the first period, a goal and an assist in the second frame, and two goals and an assist in the third stanza. The four goals in a single game are a CHL season high, and his six points in a game is tied for most in the CHL this year along with New Mexico center Chris Richards, who had a pair of goals and four assists in an 8-6 home win over Memphis December 2nd.
Rio Grande Valley netminder Jeff Levy earns Goaltender of the Week honors for the second time this season, also selected in Week Two. Levy recorded his third shutout of the season by making 40 saves in a 1-0 win at Corpus Christi December 6th, and allowed just a single goal against the following day in a 2-0 empty net goal loss to Colorado. Levy and teammate Jacque Vezina combined for back-to-back shutout wins over the weekend, establishing a new CHL season high shutout sequence of 138:14. Levy's nine wins have him tied for fifth among all CHL goaltenders.
