LEVY EARNS MORE CHL RECOGNITION

Killer Bees goaltender Jeff Levy is not only the Killer Bees "Bee of the Week" this week, but he was named today as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week by the CHL for his near perfect two game performance this past weekend. The Salt Lake City, Utah native stopped 40 shots fired by the Corpus Christi Rayz Saturday in Corpus Christi to shutout the Rayz 1-0 and earn his league high third shutout of the season. He followed the contest with a loss, but only allowing one goal and stopping 23 of 24 shots against the Colorado Eagles. The Bees lost 2-0 allowing an empty net goal and a power play goal. On the week, Levy stopped 63 of 64 shots (98.4% save percentage) and had a shutout sequence of 89:22. He joins Amarillo's Shawn Degagne as the only two-time recipients of the weekly honor this season.

ZERO, NIL, NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING = SHUTOUT

Four of the past five Killer Bees games have resulted in shutouts (three straight), with three of them in favor of the Killer Bees. The Killer Bees lead the CHL as a team with 4 shutouts. This past weekend the Killer Bees completed a task as rare as a freeze warning in the Rio Grande Valley. The Bees had back-to-back shutout victories on the road with two different goaltenders. Jacque Vezina recorded his first professional shutout Friday night in Fort Worth stopping all 35 Brahmas shots and Jeff Levy stopped all 40 Corpus Christi shots Saturday night to combine for the consecutive shutouts. The shutout sequence ended at a CHL season high 138:14 Sunday against Colorado as the Eagles scored a power play goal. Levy was the goaltender in net and his shutout sequence ended at 89:22. Jacque Vezina still has an active shutout sequence of 89:25 heading into this week. As a team, the Killer Bees do have an active streak of 227:56 since allowing an even strength goal.

TIGHT "D"

Through 21 games played, the Killer Bees have allowed a league best 14 goals during the combined third periods of play this season. Four of the 14 goals that have been allowed during the third period of play this season were empty net goals, so with a goaltender in net, the Bees have only allowed 10 goals in 21 games during the third period of play. Also of the 14 goals allowed in the third period this season, 7 have been scored by the Laredo Bucks.
