
Coley Settles in, Power Blows by Hagerstown

(Hagerstown, MD- July 28, 2015)- The West Virginia Power beat the Hagerstown Suns 13-3 Tuesday at Municipal Stadium. Austin Coley pitched five innings for his franchise record-tying 12th win of the season as the Power took four of seven games on their road trip, using 14 hits to cruise past the Suns.
Hagerstown took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, nearly knocking Coley from the game after 31 pitches. With a runner on, Raudy Read hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall to stake the Suns to the early edge.
The Power would even the score in the second inning with two runs on three hits. Michael Suchy tripled and scored on a ground out by Chase Simpson. With two outs, Trace Tam Sing singled and scored on a double from Francisco Diaz to tie the game at two.
In the top of the third, West Virginia sent eight men to the plate, scoring five runs on four hits. Suchy singled in Cole Tucker to give the Power a 3-2 lead. Elvis Escobar tripled in two to extend the lead and Chase Simpson hit a two-run home run to straightway center to put West Virginia ahead 7-2.
The Power added four runs in the fourth, keyed by a run-scoring Tucker single and a two-run double by Tito Polo. After Hagerstown scored a run on two doubles in the fifth, West Virginia added two runs on a ground out and a Simpson single in the sixth inning to take a 13-3 lead.
Coley (12-5) settled in after the first, retiring the Suns in order in the second, third and fourth innings on a total of 28 pitches. The right-hander pitched five innings, allowing three runs on three hits with one strikeout. Sam Street worked three scoreless inning of relief, striking out three, and Nick Neumann record the final three outs. Mario Sanchez (5-5) took the loss after allowing the first seven Power runs on seven hits.
Tucker, Suchy and Simpson had three hits each to lead West Virginia, while Polo and Simpson drove in three runs each as the Power took three of four from the Suns in the series and won the season series 9-8.
