
Coe Twirls Complete Game Masterpiece for Saints

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Robert Coe was magnificent, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts to lead the St. Paul Saints (22-23) to a 2-1 win over the Saltdogs (19-28) in front of 4,241 fans at Midway Stadium Friday night.
Coe (5-3) did not allow a base runner into scoring position after the first inning. He went all nine innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight and walking two to earn the win.
Saints tallied the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth after Tanner Townsend reached on a two-out wild pitch after striking out. Townsend stole second base and was driven in on an Alex Garabedian single.
Ricardo Estevez pitched well, going five innings while allowing just one run but took the no decision.
Tycen Po Vey (0-1) gave up a run on one hit in two innings of relief to suffer the loss.
The 'Dogs opened the scoring in the top of the first on a John Alonso RBI single. St. Paul quickly evened the score on a Willie Cabrera base hit.
Both Saints runs were manufactured with two outs and nobody on base.
There was an hour and twelve minute rain delay at the beginning of the game.
The Saltdogs head to Gary to open up a four-game series at U.S. Steel Yard Saturday night at 6:10 p.m. Justin Edwards (2-4, 6.49) will be on the hill for Lincoln. Radio coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
