Gary SouthShore 13, Sioux City 3
The Gary SouthShore RailCats opened up the game with a seven-run first and went on to dominate the Sioux City Explorers 13-3. The RailCats scored seven runs on six hits including two triples and a double. Three different RailCats had three RBI in the game including 1B Chris Carrara who was 4-for-5 with two runs. He also had his third double of the season. For the Explorers, 1B Kris Sanchez hit his eighth home run of the season in the first inning, it was a two-run shot. RailCat CF Sean Henry also had a nice game at the plate going 3-for-6 with three RBI. P Stephen Hiscock was the winner going 7.0 innings, scattering nine hits and giving up three runs.
Amarillo 14, Worcester 8
Amarillo Sox 1B Tim Alberts propelled the Sox to a 14-8 win over the Worcester Tornadoes with five RBI. Alberts was 3-for-5, scoring once, and knocked both a double and a home run. Across the infield, 3B Garret Rau was also strong at the plate going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. Sox C Alberto Espinosa also had two hits and three RBI. Amarillo opened up the game with a sixth run seventh inning to take a 13-2. The Tornadoes put together a six-run rally of their own in the top of the ninth inning but couldn't complete the comeback. For Worcester, 3B Johnny Welch was 2-for-3 with a home run and DH Nick Salotti also had two hits and two RBI. P Jack Spralding picked up the win for 7.0 innings of four-hit ball.
Kansas City 8, Sioux Falls 3
The Kansas City T-Bones put up eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to outlast the Sioux Falls Pheasants 8-3. After a three-run fifth the T-Bones stretched out the lead in the sixth with a four-hit, five-run rally capped by a two-run home run from 2B Devin Goodwin. Goodwin was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI against the Pheasants on the night. RF Ray Sadler also had two hits for Kansas City in three at bats. The Pheasants put up two runs in the ninth but the damage was already done. P Devin Anderson was the winner for the T-Bones by working 8.0 innings, giving up five hits and just one run.
Grand Prairie 10, Wichita 5
The Grand Prairie AirHogs got a lot of production from the top of the batting order as they doubled up the Wichita Wingnuts 10-5. The first three batters in the AirHog order, CF Keanon Simon, 2B Bryan Frichter and DH Brian Myrow combined for eight RBI on the night on six hits. Frichter and Myrow both had a pair of doubles while Simon hit his eighth triple of the season. Wichita took the lead early with two runs in the first and another in the second but the AirHogs came roaring back in the back half of the game including a four-spot in the sixth and three more in the eighth. For the Wingnuts DH John Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. P Josh Strawn earned the win after the rocky start and worked 7.1 innings giving up six hits and four runs.
Fargo-Moorhead 4, Winnipeg 3
Despite being outhit 12-9 the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks topped the Winnipeg Goldeyes 4-3 with the help of a late rally. The RedHawks scored a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning to erase a one-run deficit and held off the Goldeyes in the last two innings to claim victory. RedHawk RF Buddy Sosnoskie had a team-high two RBI on a 2-for-3 night at the plate. 3B Todd Jennings was also impressive, going 3-for-4 and scoring a run. For the Goldeyes 1B Josh Mazzola blasted his fifth home run of the season with a three-run dinger in the third inning. Winnipeg 2B Price Kendall was 3-for-5 in the game.
St. Paul 2, Lincoln 1
The St. Paul Saints edged the Lincoln Saltdogs 2-1 with the help of a strong showing from P Robert Coe. Coe tossed a complete game six-hitter and allowed just one run while striking out eight batters. Saints DH Willie Cabrera was the only player in the game for either team to have more than one hit as he was 2-for-4 with an RBI. C Alex Garabedian plated the game-winning run in the sixth inning as he singled home SS Tanner Townsend. Lincolns only run came in the first inning and Coe settled in to shut down the Saltdogs for the rest of the game as he allowed just four hits in the last eight innings.
El Paso 3, Laredo 2
The El Paso Diablos squeaked by the Laredo Lemurs 3-2 scoring all three runs in the sixth inning. Diablo C Patrick Arlis tied the game at two with a single that scored 1B Jonathan Cisneros and DH Daniel Nelson. 2B Jordan Marks provided the difference making run two batters later when he singled home Arlis. Arlis was 2-for-4 in the game while Marks was 2-for-3. For the Lemurs, both RF Stephen Pearson and LF Palmer Karr Jr. were 2-for-4 on the night. P Reymond Cruz earned the win for 6.0 innings of work in which he gave up just two earned runs on eight hits. P Marcel Prado picked up his sixth save of the season.
