Clippers Knock off PawSox in Pitcher's Duel
Published on April 18, 2018 under International League (IL1)
Columbus Clippers News Release
It was a quick one at Huntington Park, as the Clippers knocked off the visiting Pawtucket Red Sox by a final score of 2-0.
The scoring didn't start until the sixth inning when Mike Papi lined a ball of Red Sox starter Justin Haley to lead off the inning. He advanced to third on a throwing error by Haley and then scored on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Yu Chang to make it 1-0.
In the very next inning the Clippers' Eric Haase led off with a double and was scored by Richie Shaffer on a single to make it 2-0.
That would be all the Clip Show needed, as Adam Plutko (2-0) earned his second win of the season with six shutout innings. He gave up just three hits, surrendered one walk and struck out three.
The Clippers bullpen tossed three scoreless and Neil Ramirez registered his first save of the year.
The Clippers will be off tomorrow before heading to Rochester on Friday. First pitch will take place at 6:35 p.m.
