(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Backed by 13 hits and nine runs, RHP Donny Roach tossed a six-inning gem to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 9-2 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Wednesday in the finale of their three-game series from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights welcomed 60,149 fans through the gates over the team's seven-game homestand (an average of 8,593 fans per game).

Roach (2-0, 1.50) gave up just one run on three hits over six marvelous innings to earn the win. For the season, the Las Vegas, NV native has allowed just three runs in 18.0 innings pitched. He began the 2018 campaign with 10-straight scoreless innings and has been effective in each of his three outings this year.

Offensively, the Knights scored at least one run in each of their first three innings. Charlie Tilson, Eddy Alvarez, and Alfredo Gonzalez all had two hits apiece in the win. Jacob May led the way with a team-high three hits. May finished the night with a run scored and three RBIs. He also added his third stolen base of the season, which now gives him 53 with the Knights in his career, good for fourth all-time in franchise history. He is just one away from moving into a tie for third place with Rafael Skeete.

Alvarez, who was activated off the DL on Tuesday, made his first appearance of the 2018 season and went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

The Knights will have a scheduled off day on Thursday before making the trek to Indianapolis, IN on Friday to open a three-game series against the Indianapolis Indians from Victory Field.
