Syracuse Mets News Release
SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs held the first of two Education Days today, April 18th, at NBT Bank Stadium at 10:35 a.m. The second Education Day will be held on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:35 a.m. Both Education Days this year are presented by NY 529 College Savings Plan Program.
The Chiefs took on the Indianapolis Indians today and on the second Education Day, the Chiefs will take on the Toledo Mud Hens, Wednesday, May 30th. Education Days feature a 10:35 AM start time plus reduced admission and food options for students through their schools. Tickets are only $3 for teachers and their students and a box lunch can be provided for $4. Students and classes are allowed to bring in their own lunches on Education Days.
"Education Day has really become a popular event with sometimes over 6,000 students coming out. We heard from so many teachers that they wanted to come but sometimes one date did not work for them so we added another one in early April" said Jason Smorol, general manager.
Due to the unique game start and the large number of children, the Chiefs offer their season ticket holders the option of watching the game from the suites.
Education Day is the end of the Chiefs first homestand of 2018. The team goes on the road to Louisville and Indianapolis after an off day. The Chiefs return to NBT Bank Stadium on Friday, April 27th for the first Fireworks Show of the season presented by Coca-Cola and media co-sponsor, 93Q. Fridays are also Craft Beer Friday's presented by Now and Later Bottle Shop and Tap Room. Saturday features pre-game fan batting practice and a post-game "Meet the Chiefs" autograph session on the field. Sunday, April 29th is Bark in the Park presented by Melvin and Melvin Law Firm where fans can bring their K-9 friends to the game for an additional $5 that will be donated to local rescue organizations.
