Pigs Finish Homestand Tonight vs. Norfolk

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs wrap up the first homestand of the season tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Norfolk Tides. Lehigh Valley is currently 4-2 on the homestand and can win their second straight series with a victory tonight.

Tom Eshelman makes his third start of the season looking to improve to 2-1. The Tides will send Yefry Ramirez (0-1) to the hill making his first career start against the Pigs. Tonight's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.

Tom Eshelman is making his second start of the homestand and third overall. Eshelman is 1-1 on with a 5.40 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched. He picked up his first win of the season on April 13 against the Bats when he allowed three runs over 6.2 innings while striking out eight. This is his third career start against the Tides. He went 1-0 and only allowed one run over 13 innings last season against Norfolk.

Yefry Ramirez is the No. 26 prospect in the Orioles system according to Baseball America and is making his first career start against the Pigs. The 2017 Eastern League All-Star won 15 games last season between Trenton and Bowie. The 24-year-old was traded at the deadline from the Yankees to the Orioles system and went a perfect 5-0 with Bowie.

LAST NIGHT: The Norfolk Tides scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull away in Game 2 of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Park. The Pigs need a win in the rubber match to capture their second straight series.

Dean Anna continued to swing a hot bat for the Pigs. Already with a six-game hitting streak, Anna reached base three times and extended his hitting streak to a team-high seven games. During this homestand, Anna has appeared in five games and is batting .350 with seven hits.

Nick Rickles made his professional pitching debut for the Pigs, tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Rickles did allow one baserunner but stranded him at second base after inducing a pair of groundouts.

TONIGHT AT THE BALLPARK: It's Dance Night at the park and the first 3,000 fans 18 and older will receive Bacon caps compliments of Hatfield Quality Meats. Wednesdays are also Ladies Night at Coca-Cola Park featuring $5 wine specials and the chance for ladies to win great prizes. Gates for the final game of the opening homestand will open at 5:45 p.m. The Pigs hit the road for a six game road trip beginning in Durham on Friday. Baseball will return to Coca-Cola Park on April 27 as the Pigs and Railriders will resume the Iron Rail Rivalry with a three-game series. Tickets are already available for each game in the next homestand.
