Clayton Named Player of Week Again

WICHITA, KS- The Central Hockey League today named Thunder center Travis Clayton the CHL's Player of the Week for the second time this season.

A 26-year-old native of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Clayton recorded three goals and nine points as the Thunder went 3-1-0 for the week. He started the week with a pair of assists in Wichita's 3-1 victory at Odessa on Tuesday. Following a four-point effort in El Paso on Friday, Clayton picked up three points at Lubbock on Sunday, including a game-winning, breakaway goal with just nine seconds left in regulation.

Through 52 games, Clayton leads the Thunder with 26 goals, 50 assists, 76 points and a +/- rating of +18. His 50 assists ranks him second in the CHL, only to Oklahoma City's Hardy Sauter, while his 76 points are fifth-best in the league. A sixth-year Thunder veteran, Clayton is Wichita's all-time leader in assists (267), points (445) and games played (377).

The Thunder, winners of three of their last four, return home on Wednesday to host the Memphis RiverKings. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
