FOR THE WEEK OF FEB 24 – MAR 1ST CAPTAIN MAC LEADING THE PACK

Dave MacIntyre rolled into the month of February on pace for one of his lowest productive seasons of his career, but has made the most of the month of February by posting career high numbers. MacIntyre leads the Cotton Kings in scoring for the month of February with 16 points (in 12 games) off of 6 goals and 10 assists. The Sydney, Nova Scotia native tied a career high Saturday night with a four-point game, posting 2 goals and 2 assist in Lubbock's 7-1 victory over the Buzzards. He also earned a Cotton King high plus/minus rating of +5. Over his career, MacIntyre has been known for his goal production, but this season he has been the contributor of Cotton Kings goals. He had a four-game assist streak snapped Sunday night against Wichita. MacIntyre currently sits with 28 assists on the season, which is a career high passing his total of 37 during the 99/00 season. The ‘Kings Captain has 44 points (16g,28a) on the season and is 5 points shy of tying his mark of 49 last season. His career best season was during the 99/00 season when he amassed 33 goals and 37 assists for 70 points as a split season member of Waco (WPHL) and Madison (UHL).

PROMOS

The Cotton Kings will have another full week of promotions for their two home games this week. Thursday night will be the fourth "College Fight Night in the Kingdom" of the season, as the ‘Kings host the Odessa Jackalopes. The game's intermissions will feature amateur boxing, which is part of the "College Fight Night" promotion. The first 500 fans will also receive a bag of pretzels compliments of Civic Lubbock Inc. Saturday night's game is the ‘Kings "Nascar Night" against the Tulsa Oilers. The ‘Kings will wear commemorative Nascar Jerseys, which will be auctioned off throughout the game. One lucky fan will also have a chance to receive two tickets to the Texas Motor Speedway March 30th for the Samsung/Radio Shack 500 from Castrol Oil.

‘KING OF THE WEEK

Mike Dawson has been named as Lubbock's ‘King of the Week for February 17- 23rd. He led the team in scoring on the week with 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points in the week's four games. Dawson, normally a defenseman, has gone both ways playing defenseman and forward due to injuries and has no trouble adapting to the forward play. He is notching career high numbers and currently leads the squad in scoring amongst defensemen with 8 goals and 25 assists for 33 points and leads the team in the plus/minus department with a +19 rating.

PLAYOFF CHASE

Heading into the week, the Cotton Kings have 52 standing points with 11 games remaining. They are one point ahead of New Mexico (51 points and 12 games remaining) and two points behind Corpus Christi (54 points with 10 games remaining). This week, New Mexico plays a four-game schedule, while Corpus Christi and Lubbock play three games in the week. New Mexico opens the week Tuesday in El Paso and then heads home for three consecutive games, hosting Amarillo on Thursday and Odessa on Friday and Saturday. Corpus Christi plays two of three at home as they host Bossier-Shreveport Friday and San Angelo Sunday , which surrounds a Saturday night visit to Austin.

Notes: The ‘Kings open up their fifth consecutive three-in-three weekend hosting the Odessa Jackalopes. Odessa leads the season series 4-2-0 to 2-3-1 with each team's victories coming on the squad's home ice. 12 of Odessa's 19 goals against Lubbock in this season's series have been special team goals, as the Jack's have tallied 9 power play goals (in 35 opportunities) and 3 shorthanded goals. This is the final meeting of the season between both squads in Lubbock.

Fri. Feb. 28 7:30 PM @ Austin Ice Bats Radio: KKAM 1340 AM

Notes: Lubbock makes their only road trip of the week to Austin to battle the Ice Bats. This is the last visit to Austin during the regular season for the ‘Kings and they seek to make this a routine trip for the postseason, as this match-up could be a postseason preview if Lubbock qualifies for the playoffs. Austin (2-1-0) and Lubbock (1-0-2) are tied in the season series in standing points with 4 points each. Lubbock has outscored the ‘Bats 6-2 in the combined third periods of play in this season's series.

Sat. Feb. 29 7:05 PM vs Tulsa Oilers Radio: KKAM 1340 AM TV: Cox Ch. 9

Notes: Lubbock closes out the week hosting the Tulsa Oilers for the only meeting of the series between the two squads. Tulsa is one of four teams that have never won in Lubbock. Lubbock and Tulsa are tied in the all-time series 1-1-0 after splitting last season's series. The Tulsa Oilers have a 7-15-1 record when trailing after two periods, showing a great knack of being a comeback team. The Oilers are currently battling for playoff position in the Northern Conference, as they are one of three teams with 67 standing points with 2 teams standing behind with 65 standing points.
