Raffy Lopez hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday in the El Paso Chihuahuas' 4-3 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes. It was the Chihuahuas' seventh win in their last nine games.

Brett Kennedy allowed three runs in five innings in a no-decision, keeping his season record at 10-0. El Paso reliever Brad Wieck pitched two perfect innings, striking out five batters. Trey Wingenter threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.

Shane Peterson went 2-for-4 with a home run off the right field scoreboard in the second inning. El Paso's win combined with Salt Lake's loss at Iowa gives the Chihuahuas a 2.5-game first place lead in the Southern Division.
