El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning for the second straight game Monday but lost 8-6 to the Reno Aces. The Chihuahuas trailed 6-0 early before a nine-batter, five-hit bottom of the fifth inning produced six runs to tie the game. The rally included two triples and two home runs.

Raffy Lopez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks. Lopez now has homered in four straight games, tying multiple former Chihuahuas for the team record. Brett Nicholas went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, his team-leading eighth of the season. Luis Urias went 2-for-4 with a walk and has reached base eight times in his last 10 plate appearances. Diego Goris had four hits Monday, his third straight multi-hit game.

The Chihuahuas almost had their second comeback of the game late, putting multiple runners in scoring position in both the eighth and ninth innings but left five runners on in the last two frames. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak the Chihuahuas had against Reno dating back to last season.
