The Salt Lake Bees lost their series opener to the Fresno Grizzlies 11-4 Monday night.

The Bees started off hot with three runs in the first two innings. Jose Miguel Fernandez singled to right-centerfield to score Eric Young Jr. in the first inning. In the second inning, Michael Hermosillo singled to center to score Ryan Schimpf and Jose Briceno. The Grizzlies responded in the top of the third with a three-run inning, and followed with another three-run inning in the fourth which included a two-run home run by Tyler White to put them up 6-3.

The Bees wouldn't score again until the seventh inning when Young tripled to center after the ball got by Drew Ferguson, scoring Zach Houchins. But David Fletcher and Chris Carter failed to drive in Young, leaving the score at 6-4. Fresno responded again in the top of the eighth when Ferguson hit a line drive down the left field line off of Greg Belton to score Jack Mayfield and Jon Kemmer. AJ Reed then singled two batters later to score Ferguson to make it 9-4. The Grizzlies scored two more runs in the ninth inning to finalize the score at 11-4.

Salt Lake finished April with a 15-10 record, hitting a league-leading 47 home runs. After losing the opening series to Albuquerque, the Bees have won five straight series. The Bees will need to win three in a row against Fresno to keep that streak going. They play against the Grizzlies tomorrow at 6:35.
