
Chiefs Win at Home Vs. Tri-City

The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Tri-City Americans in a thrilling 5-3 victory at the Spokane Arena on Saturday evening in front of 9,667 fans. The Chiefs defeated the league leading Americans for the second time this season with Domink Uher contributing three points in the winning effort.
Tri-Cities started the game quickly, scoring at 4:17 of the first period on a Dryden Dow shot.
However, the Chiefs did not take long to answer back with Uher scoring just 31-seconds later at 4:48 of the first on a rush to the net set up by Brenden Kichton.
Todd Fiddler provided Spokane with their first lead scoring on a wrap around at 5:52 making it 2-1. Uher was credited with an assist on the play.
Tri-Cities stayed close however, tying the game near the end of the first at the 18:18 mark off the stick of Brendan Shinnimin.
The Chiefs power play came alive in the second period, with Blake Gal scoring at 6:49 thanks to a set up by Steven Kuhn to make the score 3-2.
The lead was short lived however with Sam Grist scoring his first WHL goal for the Americans at 11:28 of the second, tying the game for the third time of the evening.
The Chiefs special teams continued to play well in the third period, successfully defending three penalty kills and six for the game.
Newest Chief Dylan Walchuk scored what proved to be the game winner on the power play at 7:05 of the third period, with Kuhn earning the primary assist on the goal. It was Walchuk's second goal in a row.
Tri-Cities made things interesting going on the power play at 16:54 of the third, and pulled their goaltender at the 18:00 mark giving them six attackers on the ice.
The Chiefs were able to come up with an insurance goal thanks to an incredible play by Uher, blocking a slap shot and then chasing down to loose puck to score and empty net goal.
Spokane finished the game 2-4 on the power play, with Tri-Cities going 0-6. The Chiefs outshot the Americans 36-29.
