Chiefs Visit Elementary Schools

Johnstown, PA (February 27, 2006) - The Johnstown Chiefs, winners of three straight, have turned their attention to helping school children in the Greater Johnstown Area.

The Chiefs began visiting schools on February 15, when they visited Conemaugh Primary School, to talk about safety. The visits will continue, tomorrow as the Chiefs visit Penn Cambria Elementary School to discuss health and fitness. Next week, the Chiefs will visit Blacklick Valley Elementary, Richland Elementary, before wrapping up March 15, when the Chiefs will work out with Conemaugh Valley Elementary students.

Among the contributors to the Chiefs school visit program is veteran defenseman, Ian Manzano.

"It's great to talk with the kids. They are so enthusiastic and it rubs off on you."

Also pitching in are Brandon Elliott, Doug Andress, John Toffey, Jim Hakewill, Steve Cygan, Joe Tallari and goaltender, Mike Betz. For Betz, it is a continuation of his long-time charitable works.

"The Chiefs jersey means something. We have a chance to positively affect these kids, plus we both get to have a lot of fun doing it."

The Chiefs will visit Penn Cambria Elementary School, after practice on Wednesday, March 1.

The Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumes on Friday, in Reading. The Chiefs return home on Sunday afternoon to face the Greenville Grrrowl. The Chiefs welcome church, office, family and other groups. Call 1-800-Slapshot for more details.
