Peoria Chiefs News Release

The Dayton Dragons and Cincinnati Reds have announced that starting pitcher Paul Wilson will rehab at Fifth Third Field in Dayton Thursday April 27th against the Peoria Chiefs.

Wilson joined the Reds in 2003 and was 11-6 in 2004 with a 4.36 ERA. Last season he made just nine starts and was 1-5 with a 7.77 ERA before suffering a torn rotator cuff. Wilson broke into the Majors in 1996 with the Mets but injuries derailed his career. He came back with Tampa Bay in 2001 and was 14-21 in two seasons before signing a free agent deal with Cincinnati.

Wilson, 33, was drafted First Overall by the Mets in the 1996 draft out of Florida State and along with Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isringhausen was projected as New York's future rotation until all three suffered arm injuries. Wilson was injured last June and began throwing in January. In his last Spring Training start on Firday April 21 he tossed 94 pitches over seven innings. The Dragons have not indicated how many pitches Wilson will throw against the Chiefs on Thursday.
