West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Detroit Tigers announced today that West Michigan Whitecaps hitting coach Tony Jaramillo resigned to pursue interests outside of baseball. Jaramillo cited personal reasons for leaving the club and his resignation is effective immediately. The Tigers have not yet named a replacement.

Glenn Ezell, Tigers director of player development, said "It is unfortunate these circumstances arose. We were confident in his abilities, but Tony did what he felt was necessary at this time."

This season would have been Jaramillo's third with the Tigers' organization and the Whitecaps. He helped lead the Whitecaps to a Midwest League Championship in 2004. Before beginning his coaching career, Jaramillo played six seasons of professional baseball. Jaramillo currently resides in Duncanville, Texas.
