Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL. - The Chicago Red Stars today announced their current team roster ahead of the 2022 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Expansion Draft and the 2022 NWSL Draft. All players, with the exception of Zoey Goralski, are contracted by the club for next season.
The roster features familiar faces, including four United States Women's National Team (USWNT) players, who were all signed to multi-year contracts last week. Tierna Davidson, Casey Krueger, Alyssa Naeher and Mallory Pugh will rejoin long-time, fan-favorites Danielle Colaprico, Vanessa DiBernardo, Morgan Gautrat, Kealia Watt, Arin Wright and other key players with the goal of replicating the success the team has seen over the past several years.
"Entering this offseason, it was a priority for the club to retain as much of the core roster as possible. This incredible roster has led the team to three championship games in as many years and we hope to build off that success next year," said the Chicago Red Stars.
Defender Zoey Goralski opted to retire and will not return to the club next season. The Naperville native was drafted by the Red Stars in 2018 from the University of California, Los Angeles. During her time with the club, Goralski was part of the Red Stars' three championship runs, played with the United States under-20 and under-23 teams and in college played in 88 of 90 games during her four years at UCLA. In 2017 she was named to the 2017 College Cup All-Tournament Team.
"Thank you to the Chicago Red Stars organization for giving me the opportunity to live my dream of representing my hometown club. The city of Chicago means so much to me, and being able to play soccer surrounded by such amazing fans was an honor," said Goralski. "Most importantly, thank you to my teammates for the endless support. I will be taking the kindness, love, and resilience you all exemplified into my new journey in life."
The Red Stars thank Zoey for her contributions to the club and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
